National Retraining Scheme Service

Helping people retrain for better jobs

Posted on January 30, 2020

The jobs of the future are expected to be quite different thanks to changes in technology. The increasing use of automation and artificial intelligence is changing the types of skills needed for working age people.

To tackle this, the UK Government has launched the National Retraining Scheme Service. The aim is to help retrain adults for better jobs while helping to meet the demand for new skills.

The UK has now adopted an Industrial Strategy, and the National Retraining Scheme is part of this wider plan.

To benefit from this new service, you need to already be working, be at least 24 years old, have no degree and not earn over a certain threshold. This amount is under review and will change every year.

If all goes to plan, this new National Retraining Scheme will help the UK respond to the changing nature of jobs, improve the skill base and better place to workforce for the changing nature of work.
